Usage Notes

  • Brazil is divided into 26 states and 1 federal district
  • All codes follow the format 'BR-' followed by the traditional state abbreviation
  • The Federal District (BR-DF):
    • Includes the capital city Brasília
    • Has special administrative status
    • Is not part of any state
  • When specifying locations in Brazil in your API requests, please use these exact codes for the state or federal district
  • All state names retain their proper Portuguese spelling with diacritical marks (e.g., Paraíba, São Paulo, Ceará)
