When dealing with addresses or locations in Ireland, our API uses the following county codes. These codes are based on the ISO 3166-2:IE standard for Ireland's counties.

Usage Notes

  • Ireland is divided into 26 counties (contae) and 4 provinces
  • All codes follow the format 'IE-' followed by one or two letters
  • The provinces and their counties are:
    • Leinster (IE-L): Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford, Wicklow
    • Munster (IE-M): Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford
    • Connacht/Connaught (IE-C): Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo
    • Ulster (IE-U): Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan (in the Republic)
  • Dublin (IE-D) is both a county and the capital city
  • When specifying locations in Ireland in your API requests, please use these exact codes for the county
  • Both English and Irish (Gaeilge) names are officially recognized
